The final race of the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship takes place at Brands Hatch on 20th October. Lexelle-sponsored riders Tarran and Taylor Mackenzie will be hoping to consolidate their positions in what has been a season of highs and lows.

The penultimate race at Donington Park brought disappointment for both riders. In Superstock 1000 Taylor made a perfect start from pole position and led the rest of the field before the safety car was deployed following an incident. Soon after, he suffered a large highside at Coppice Corner and had to retire from the race 5 laps in.

Commenting afterwards, Taylor said: “Gutted doesn’t even come close. Everything was running like clockwork this weekend, right up to the safety car period when I lost a lot of temperature from my rear tyre, which caught me out after the restart. It’s my first DNF of the season, which as well as the missed opportunity to push for the win today, is also a source of frustration. I took a bit of a beating today, but nothing lasting, so I’m already looking forward to Brands Hatch and riding this new S1000RR again”.

It was a challenging weekend for Tarran as well. Conditions were wet for the warm-up, but the races were dry, so the team were unable to test any improvements in dry conditions ahead of race one.  Tarran finished race 1 in 12th and 8th in race 2.

“As we didn’t get a dry warm-up, we couldn’t try something different so we went into race one a little blind,” he said. “The bike didn’t feel the best and I struggled a lot on the front. We made a change for race two which definitely helped the bike, I had a lot stronger pace and was a lot closer to the guys in front which was good. I’m feeling better in myself and on the bike and gaining a lot more confidence. Brands was good for us earlier in the year until the crash so hopefully we can end the year on a high.”

Both riders are looking forward to the 2019 season finale at Brands Hatch.
