The seventh round of the 2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship saw Tarran Mackenzie secure his place in the pole position shootout in Saturday’s free practice session. Tarran was the fourth rider to post a lap time, and recorded his best ever lap of the Mountain circuit – placing him 9th on the grid for the opening race.

The race was a frustrating affair for Mackenzie. After running inside the top 10 for the majority of the race, he slipped to 11th when he crossed the line. Tarran felt positive about his performance and the bike for the next race in the blistering Bank Holiday sunshine.

In the next race, Tarran matched his 11th place from race one in the second outing. However, Tarran went one better in race three, finishing tenth, posting competitive laps throughout to show a marked improvement on a notoriously tricky circuit.

In a statement, he said that he had a really positive end to the weekend, posting consistently improved lap times with a lot of them in the 1’26 seconds. These times were better than his achievements at this course last year and secured him more points.
