A crash at Silverstone means Tarran Mackenzie can’t win the 600 Superstock title but the youngster insists there are plenty of positives as he looks to secure second place at Brands Hatch in the season finale.

The Lexelle-sponsored rider was confident of another potential win after qualifying 3rd on the grid for his ten lap race. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be as another rider collided with him on lap seven casing him to crash.

“My weekend was going perfectly to plan until the race,” Tarran said.

“I didn’t make the best of starts so ended up fighting through the field with riders that were a bit loose to say the least!

“Unfortunately one hit me going through a fast section of the track and down I went.

“I was very lucky not to get injured so I’ll be looking to finish off my season with a top three finish at Brands Hatch.

“I can’t win the overall Championship now but I’ll be doing everything I can to secure second place in the standings. “

His brother and fellow Lexelle-sponsored rider Taylor Mackenzie had a reasonably good run of reliability through practice and although only 24th on the grid felt good for Sunday’s races.

And race one in the Superbike class was going really good until his rear tyre spun on the rim causing a serious vibration.

Thinking it was a mechanical problem that might get worse he pulled into the pits after climbing to 18th position.

In race two he also had a good run but could only manage 20th at the flag after missing a gear and having a mid-race off-track excursion.

“Silverstone was looking good as I made progress throughout practice and found a comfortable set up for Sunday,” Taylor said.

“The rear tyre vibration problem in race one was a new experience for me but I guess that’s been the story of my season.

“Race two was also going ok but I found a false neutral going into turn one and that cost me some big time.

“At least I’m back to full fitness now so I’ll head to Brands in good shape and hopefully end my season on a positive note.”
