It was another weekend of thrills, spills and misfortune for Lexelle-sponsored Taylor and Tarran Mackenzie as the British Superbike Championship moved to Assen. in Holland.

Preparation was far from ideal as both boys fell in a moto-cross accident the day before leaving.

Tarran had to visit A&E with a neck injury while Taylor was left swollen and bruised, and at the time unable to get into his leathers.

There was no Superstock 600 race in Assen so Ta could rest while everything was done to get Taylor out on the bike.

Taylor managed to qualify in 12th position but only 0.5 seconds off the top six.

He said: “When rain came for race one I thought a podium might even be possible and things were on course when I got up to 6th position by half race distance.

“The track then started to dry out and I couldn’t cope as I had wet tyres on dry suspension settings so dropped back to 12th by the chequered flag.

“This also meant my lap times dropped off so found myself 20th on the grid for Sunday’s feature race. I was up for it though and made a great start but a serious incident saw the race stopped.

“In the restart I also made a good start but my clutch expired on lap one and that was the end of my weekend!

“There is nothing else to say except that you will see me come out fighting once again at Silverstone in two weeks time.

Dad Niall, a three-time BSB champion admitted it has been a frustrating season for the boys but spirits are still high.

He said: “If nothing else 2014 has been character building so it was probably no surprise when the theme continued for us during the build up to the Assen BSB round in Holland!

“Taz is also back in action at Silverstone and I’m glad to say his neck is getting better by the day.”
