Lexelle-sponsored Tarran Mackenzie is ready to fight for the Superstock 600 Championship – according to his father and former British Superbike champion Niall.
The 19-year-old endured a mixed bag in his first season in the 600cc class with a combination of bad luck and injury keeping him out of the title hunt.
But he proved he is capable of getting on the podium – something which his dad expects to see on a regular basis for the Team WD40 rider in 2015.
“Tarran is totally ready to fight for the Superstock 600 Championship,” Niall said.
“He is fit, fast and has a great bike and team, so barring bad luck should put a strong season together.”
Brother and fellow Lexelle-sponsored rider Taylor Mackenzie will have to show patience as he makes the step up to Superbike class for the first time.
Niall added: “The amount of riders and depth of field in BSB this year in unprecedented, and incredible as it seems, there will be very experienced riders finishing between 20th and 30th at the chequered flag every weekend.
“As a rookie to the class, Taylor has a big job on so will have to maximise his track time to understand how to get the best from himself and the bike.
“He also has to be patient and although it might not sound too ambitious, I think if he can get close to scoring points in the first half of the season he will be ready to push higher up the standings from then on.”
But Niall believes his two boys are physically in the best possible shape ahead of the season opening at Donnington Park on April 6
“After a winter of pain and punishment dealt out by their personal trainer Dan Tindall, Taylor and Tarran have moved their strength and fitness up to a new level,” he said.
“Although a gentle giant, Dan is an ex cage fighter but also fully qualified when it comes to training, fitness and nutrition.
“After following the boys over the past two years, he built up a good understanding of the physicalities of racing and how he could help the boys.
“With Taylor moving up to the Superbike class, training has been more important than ever so I’m happy there has been no lack of commitment from either Dan, Taylor or Tarran.”
