Tarran Mackenzie storms to second Monster Energy Motorstar victory

Tarran Mackenzie stormed to his second victory in the space of a week in the Monster Energy Motorstar championship.

The Redline KTM rider, who is sponsored by Lexelle for the 2013 season, followed up lasts week’s win at Brands Hatch with another dominant performance at Thruxton.

Tarran, son of three-time British Superbike champion Niall Mackenzie, took pole position during dry conditions on Saturday morning but the second session saw limited action with just four of the ten braving the drenched circuit – making no change to the standings.

And the youngster lead from the front to claim his second victory of the season on Sunday.

After the race Tarran (@Tazmac95) posted on Twitter: “So happy to get another British Championship win today at Thruxton on my @RedlineKTM. Looking forward to Texas now with @RB_Rookies_Cup.”

His brother Taylor, who is also sponsored by Lexelle, took 12th and 11th placed finishes in the British Supersport Championship. He is now looking forward to Oulton Park at the beginning of May.

He said: “We made a tyre change for the second race and it was one hundred times better and I was really excited, but then I got stuck behind Scott Smart. I went to pass him and ran on at the chicane, which messed me up a bit.

“I did feel that I could get back onto the tail end of the front group, but by the time I got past Scott my tyre was finished. The bike felt a lot better in that second race and we were only half a second off the fastest lap, so I’ve got to be happy with that – although the position is not where I want to be.”
