Lexelle-sponsored rider Taylor Mackenzie looks ahead to round seven of the British Supersport Championship at Oulton Park…

“The last month has been as busy as ever. I managed to secure my best finish of the year at Snetterton with a sixth place, so motivation was high heading into the Brands Hatch GP round. I was pleased to get my best every qualifying slot with seventh place on the grid for the first race at Brands.

“Qualifying has been my downfall this year, so to be on the first two rows was great. When you’re not on the front two rows it’s really hard to get a result in British Supersport, as the pace is so fast this year that you can’t afford to not be in the lead group on the first lap.

“I couldn’t wait for the race. My starts have been quite good this year so I was confident of another top six finish. I was away in the front group and everything was going to plan until I got unsighted behind another rider. I hit the inside kerb at Sterling’s and down I went. I was gutted to crash out with such a tiny mistake; it also meant I was back to 14th on the grid for race two. I came home in tenth place in the second race, which I was annoyed with afterwards, having had such a good start to the weekend. As I said before though, it is really tough to get a good result if you’re not with the leaders on the first few laps.

“I can’t wait for Oulton Park now this weekend. All the Tyco Suzuki boys have been working really hard behind the scenes to give me a competitive package and the progress we’ve made is really promising, so I need to say a massive thanks to everyone involved. All of the tracks we visit in the second half of the season should suit my riding style a lot more, so I’m confident we can have a strong finish to the year.

“I’ll be trying my best as always!”
