As the British Superbike Championships head into the final stages, both Taylor and Tarran Mackenzie had a positive weekend at Oulton Park.
In changeable conditions it was tricky to choose the appropriate tyres and bike set ups, although this did mean that the teams gained valuable wet set up information for the future.
Taylor qualified on the second row for Race 1, battling through the field to finish in fourth place. Race 2 saw him go one better, finishing in third and taking another podium position.
“I was well chuffed with my Superstock 1000 podium at Oulton after a tricky weekend of mixed weather,” he said afterwards.”The circuit was quite slippy, but my Bathams BMW Team worked tirelessly to give me the best bike for the conditions. I jumped up to 10th in the championship so my goal for the final round is another podium and a few more championship positions.”
Tarran qualified eighth on the grid for Race 1, tackling wet conditions to take seventh place at the finish. Fourth on the grid in Race 2, solid racing saw him maintain that position at the flag.
He commented, “Returning to Oulton Park has been very successful as I struggled in every area there earlier in the year. Finishing 7th in the wet race then 4th in the dry at this tough circuit was brilliant in my Rookie year on the superbike. We’ve learned loads at MCAMS Yamaha regarding dealing with all kinds of conditions which bodes well for the future. It’s Assen in Holland next and a track I adore.”
Tarran now stands at number eight in the championship.
