Lexelle-sponsored Tarran Mackenzie followed up his maiden Superstock 600 win at Knockhill with another victory in round six of the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch.
Tarran Mackenzie makes it back-to-back wins at Brands Hatch
Tarran was in the top two in every practice session breaking the lap record no fewer than five times.
He eventually qualified in second position for Sunday’s race but on the same time as pole position man, Australian, Ben Currie.
The 14-lap race was initially a three way battle but by mid race Tarran and Ben had broken away from the pack then swapped places until Tarran took the lead and held it to the chequered flag on the last lap.
“I went to Brands Hatch confident after winning at Knockhill so I’m really pleased with my performance,” Tarran said.
“Back-to-back wins means I have closed the gap to just 22 points on the championship leader so with five rounds left anything is possible.
“I broke another lap record at Brands Hatch but felt I still had something left had I been pushed harder. A massive thanks as always to my Stauff Connect WD40 team for giving me a great bike.”
In the Superbike class, brother Taylor took a few sessions to get up to speed with the ultra fast track but once again qualified under two seconds off the lap record pace.
An over-heating engine meant he had to retire in race one but he finished 20th in race two with strong consistent lap times just behind previous BSB race winners Josh Waters and Ryuichi Kyonari.
“Brands Hatch was hot and physical but I have another new track under my belt and am a better rider for the experience,” Taylor said.
“We made some changes on day two which helped a lot although it was a shame I lost track time with the race one technical problem.
“Josh Waters and Ryouchi Kyonari might not have been having the best of days but I learned a lot following them throughout race two.
“It is the even faster Thruxton Circuit next which I’m sure will be another amazing experience. Many thanks to my patient and hard working crew as always. “
