Lexelle-sponsored riders Taylor and Tarran Mackenzie will be fighting hard for points at Thruxton after a mixed weekend at Brands Hatch.

Taylor is getting fed up of the number nine after two more ninth place finishes left him in ninth place in the overall championship.

But the British Supersport racer insists he can compete for podiums once the speed of his Tyco Suzuki 600 can match that of the front runners.

“After saying I was really fed up with finishing 9th so many times this year I came away from Brands Hatch once again with two ninth places,” Taylor said.

“My Tyco Suzuki isn’t the fastest out there but I was able to make up time as it is probably the best handling bike on the track.

“My lap times were consistently in the top five over the weekend but I struggled to stay with the opposition over the full race distances.

“I’m still loving riding my bike and am confident the day I’m on equal machinery I’ll be fighting for the podium. Thruxton is next and a circuit I really enjoy so once again I’ll be giving it my all.”

Younger brother Tarran managed to grab his first pole position of the season in the Superstock 600 class for the WD40 team but was unable to capitalise on his advantage.

“I was confident of fighting for another podium place on race day,” he said.

“My start was good as I got to the first corner in second place but I got involved in a tussle that cost me a few places over the next few laps.

“Once things settled down I started to make my way back to the front but misjudged a fast left hand corner and crashed out.

“Although gutted I was absolutely fine but my bike was trashed so we have to build a new one for the next round at Thruxton in two weeks time. That is the way racing goes I guess so I’ll just have to come out fighting again next time.”

Dad Niall, a former British Superbike champion, is pleased with the attitude shown from his boys.

“I can only ask for 100 per cent commitment each weekend and that’s exactly what I get,” he said.

“We have super-fast Thruxton next so watch this space!”
