Over the weekend was the first round of the Kawasaki British Superteen series taking place at Oulton Park.
Carl got off to a good start in practice and qualifying managing to secure a 6th placed finish, meaning Carl started on row two on the grid for race one.
Race 1 got off to a good start for Carl, managing to jump up a few places into fourth within the first two laps. Unfortunately, Carl had a crash on the third lap but luckily came out unhurt, but his race over.
The second race of the round was unfortunately cancelled due an incident earlier in the day, meaning race two will be postponed to a different date later on in the season.
This is what Carl had to say on the opening weekend: “I knocked two seconds off the lap time from the first practice session on Thursday and continued to make good progress making changes in each session. I have had limited track time on the bike, so I am learning more each time I get on it”.
Carl then went on to say: “I finished P6 in qualifying which I was happy with. I started on row two of the grid, so with a good start I was confident to be up with the leaders. I got off to a great start in the race and managed to climb to third. I then got passed on the second lap, so I was then into fourth. Unfortunately, I crashed into Shell oils on the third lap as I hit a false neutral. I was fine, it was more frustrating really”.
Carl finished off by saying: “Overall, it has been a really positive weekend and we know we can be at the front running for the championship. Thank you to Lexelle for your continued support with my racing this season, I am already looking forward to Donington Park”.
We’ll next see Carl at Donington Park on the 17th – 19th of May for round two of the Kawasaki British Superteen Series.
