Over the weekend it was round 5 for Carl of the Kawasaki British Superteen Championship. This time Carl was back at Donington Park, where he enjoyed success earlier on in the season, placing 3rd and 1st in round 2.
Carl got off to a good start on Friday in the free practice session managing to complete 8 laps with a best lap time of 01:41:063. This put Carl in 4th and less than a second off the leader.
Carl got off to another good start in qualifying, setting good times within his first 2 laps. However, due to a false neutral on his 3rd lap, Carl high sided meaning he was then out of qualifying. Due to this Carl ended in P10, which is where he’ll start for the first race.
Carl got off to a solid start in race 1, solidifying 9th and only 2 seconds off the leader throughout the first few laps. Sadly, on lap 5, Carl crashed out of the race on turn 7, causing him to retire.
As race 2 got underway on Sunday, it was clear early for Carl that some technical problems were occurring with the bike, forcing him to retire from the race only 5 corners into the first lap.
Unfortunately for Carl, this dropped him from 3rd to 6th in the overall championship standings but still remained in touching distance of the top 3.
It’s a quick turnaround for Carl as he’s back on the track this weekend for round 6 of the Kawasaki British Superteen Championship, this time at Brands Hatch.
