Over the weekend Carrie was back out on her bike for another trial, this time at the Bemrose Trophy trial in North Derbyshire.
After a good practice day on Saturday, Carrie was ready to attack the course come trial day, even battling an illness in the lead-up to the trial.
Carrie made a strong start to the trial, scoring 3 perfect sections in the first 4 and placing well in the opening stages. After a few mistakes in the mid-section of the course, Carrie managed to fight back strong having many perfect sections in the last half of the course and finishing with a score of 64.
This score meant Carrie finished in a very respectable 37th in the clubman class and also the 2nd female in the class.
This is what Carrie had to say on her trial:
“It felt great to be back out after the disaster we had at the Cleveland! Although feeling rough with a bit of a chest infection and lost voice, I was determined to not let that hold me back. I had a nice and steady warm-up on the training day on Saturday to see how my fitness would hold up and I felt much better than I thought I would thankfully!
My start time was 9:36, it was a little bit gloomy and cold in the morning but dry at least, so away I went to start the 40-section 1 lap trial. As the trial went on, I felt my riding got stronger and stronger which I was super happy about again considering being a bit under the weather. I finished well ahead of the 7-hour time limit and with a smile on my face.”
We’ll next see Carrie back out on her bike in April for the first round of the AMCA Ladies and Girls British Championship.
