Over the weekend, Carrie kicked off her Trial GB season and her debut in the new Trial 2 women’s category. The first round of the season took place at Inch Perfect Trials, located near Clitheroe, in Lancashire.

Carrie got things underway on Saturday in the first of her 2 lap trial. Carrie got off to a decent start scoring similar to others in the field and battling it out for 4th position. Carrie finished the first lap with a score of 44, placing her 6th for now but only 3 points off of 4th place. Going into lap 2 after a break, Carrie started experiencing technical issues with her bike, making things extremely tough. As always, Carrie battled through her difficulties and scored better then the previous lap by 2 points. This meant a 7th placed overall finish for day 1 of the event and managed to keep n touching distance right the way through despite her bike issues.

Going into Sunday, Carrie was still experiencing the same issues with her bike and knew the 2 laps were going to be an uphill battle. As Carrie got underway, she managed to still get in a few perfect sections and get as much as she could from the others. She finished lap 1 scoring 41 points, placing her 7th. A similar story was on the cards for lap 2 of the trial, as again Carrie scored some early perfect rounds but some mistakes late on meant another 7th placed overall finish.

This is what Carrie had to say on her weekend:

“Sadly, all weekend I was faced with technical issues with the bike which made it a battle in every section, and I tried everything to amend the issues but to no avail sadly. Despite my frustrations and how disheartened I was feeling due to not being able to ride to my full potential, I fought to the end of each day to at least finish and pick up any points I could in the championship and took home P7 both days”.

Carrie then finished off by saying:

“I hope to do much better at the next two rounds of the British Championships at the end of the month down south at Hookwoods”.

We’ll next see Carrie back out on her bike next week in the DMC Wainwright Shield in Wetherby. Good luck Carrie!
