Carl was back on the track over the weekend, this time in the Quattro Group British Supersport Cup at Thruxton.
Carl missed the first free practice session on Friday morning but got out on the track for the second session on Friday afternoon. As it was a new bike for Carl it took some time for him to get used to it but managed it well throughout the session. Carl managed 20 laps in the practice session and despite him coming in at 35th, he was just a few seconds off of the leader.
The first race of the weekend got underway on Saturday afternoon which was a 10-lap sprint race to the finish. However, the race was cut to a 5-lap race due to a crash 7 laps in. Carl managed to improve on his practice session jumping up 3 places and also beating his best lap time by 3 seconds, this meant Carl finished the 5-lap sprint in 32nd after starting on the grid at 34th.
This is what Carl had to say on qualifying and race 1:
“It has been a good first couple of days testing the new zx636. It has been good to be on a big bike again, and I’m learning every session, trying to set the bike up as best as possible. We ended up qualifying in P34 and ended race 1 in P32”.
Race 2 got underway on Sunday afternoon with Carl starting 32nd on the grid. He got off to a fast start but unfortunately, Carl’s race was cut short due to a crash early on involving him and 2 other riders.
We’ll next see Carl back out on the track at Cadwell Park in the Quattro Group British Supersport Cup on the 24th – 26th of August. Good luck Carl.
