It was the final trial of the year for Carrie over the past weekend, this time in North Yorkshire, for the Kirkby Christmas Charity trial. A favourite of Carries’ last year, she was excited to be back for her 2nd year at Ripon Motor Club and it certainly didn’t disappoint either.
After a late entry and getting one of the last spots available, Carrie was excited to get going and prepped the bike ready to go. The trial consisted of 2 laps of 18 sections with plenty of favourable sections for Carrie to score well on.
After some time off with an old reoccurring injury, Carrie has battled hard in recent weeks to get back to feeling 100% again and was raring to go. With the slight worry Carrie would start rusty after time away, it only took a few sections, and it was like she never left. With favourable weather on the day with clear skies, the course was still muddy after recent weather which made for a fun but challenging day. Her first lap of the course consisted of plenty of perfect sections, and she finished the lap with a score of 35. This placed Carrie nicely in the 70-person field going into lap 2.
As Carrie got lap 2 underway, scores across the field were drastically worse on lap 2, but Carrie started well with some good scores and finished off excellently, scoring some perfect sections to close out her trial. Carrie finished lap 2 with a score of 37, giving her an overall score of 72 and a respectable 44th out of 70 and also 2nd in the female class.
This is what Carrie had to say on her experience:
“I’ve had a little bit of downtime after the Scott Trial as my incident there flared up some old, old back injuries so I’ve just got myself feeling 100% again. Other than battling through the Northern Experts and a training day the other weekend, I felt good and like I’d never been away which was a good feeling. Although we were blessed with a dry day and clear skies, recent downpours meant there was still plenty of mud around which still made for a fun and challenging trial at times. But overall, I’m happy with my riding and I came in with a solid 44th out of 70 riders and 2nd female in the class”.
Carrie then went on to say:
“Now I’m feeling fit again and my back is settled thanks to training and lots of TLC, I’m ready to get back into hard training through winter ready to hit the ground running in 2025 for the main season to start”.
We’ll next see Carrie back on her bike in the new year, ready for the 2025 season.
