Carrie was back out on her bike again for her 3rd year at the Lakes 2-day trial. The trial takes place across Broughton-in-Furness, Cumbria, with 40 challenging sections to tackle spanning across 20 to 25 miles. This, mixed with horrendous weather conditions, was going to prove tough for anyone.

Carrie had a late start time on Saturday, getting things underway at 10:17. The weather proved tough from the get-go, making riding conditions tough. The wet grass acted like ice in most sections, and the strong gusts of wind were making it tricky to even keep the bike upright. Carrie managed to score 66 in the morning section, coincidentally, the same score she managed in the morning of last year. She then scored 73 in the afternoon, taking her day 1 total to a respectable 139.

This is what Carrie had to say on day 1:

"It was a wet one from the start, and riding conditions were tough. Grass was like pure ice in places, and the insane wind nearly blew me into oblivion multiple times throughout the day. I also went swimming a few times, but we weren't the only ones. Overall, I genuinely do not think in my 3 years of competing that I've ever ridden in such gruelling conditions".

Sunday was Carrie's early start, getting things underway at 9:06. The weather was behaving much better than the previous day, with the odd spot of rain throughout. Despite this, the sections were still extremely challenging due to Saturday's weather conditions, leaving the course slippery and grip hard to come by. Carrie, as always, fought hard and pushed herself right to the very end. With a score of 81 in the morning and 87 in the afternoon, her Sunday total was 168.

Carrie's overall total came to 307, meaning she was the 5th female in her class and 104th out of 139 competitors.

This is what Carrie had to say about her weekend:

"It was definitely not my best weekend of riding, but I'm honestly just proud to have finished considering everything! I was the 5th female in the Clubman class and again super happy to be 3 out of 3 on finishes at the Lakes 2 Day".
