Carries’ British Championship got underway over the weekend in the brand new AMCA Ladies Series taking place at Scunthorpe MCC. Coming into the trial, Carrie had been nursing a back injury from the end of March as well as making modifications to her bike suspension.
As expected, it took Carrie a few sections to adapt to the bike as well as seeing how much she could push herself without injuring her back even more. Once Carrie was settled into her groove, her riding got stronger as the trial went on and was able to throw in plenty of perfect sections. Going into the last lap on the course, Carrie was tied with a fellow competitor and battling it out for 4th place. Carrie remained consistent throughout the lap, scoring some important perfect sections and beating her competitor by 2 points to take 4th place with 75 points.
This is what Carrie had to say on her weekend:
“I got off to a slow start as the bike was riding quite differently from how it had before due to the suspension changes, but in a massively good way. Once I settled in, my riding got stronger and stronger, and I know the suspension amendments are going to allow me to progress to a whole new level in my riding. I managed to bring it home in P4 which I’ll accept considering the circumstances, mainly with my back injury, but I know I can do better than that and I know I will do better, so roll on the rest of the series.”
With May being relatively quiet in terms of competitive trials for Carrie, she will be preparing for a big two months in June and July with seven British Championship rounds as well as three National events.
