After a positive weekend last time out at the Isle of Man, Carrie was back for another trial, this time at Richmond Motor Club for the Reeth 3-day trial. Taking place in North Yorkshire, Carrie was familiar with the track due to competing last time out. Carrie was hoping for a better weekend this time, as last year she experienced bike issues early on and struggled to recover, meaning a 44th-place finish.
Carrie got her first day of the 3-day trial underway with a late start on Friday. The sections throughout the day were challenging, and mixed with the sun beaming down, Carrie had to battle hard all the way through. A good middle section of the trial saw Carrie score a clean section, as well as scoring well in others. Carrie ended the day on 105 points and in 47th place.
A little earlier start for day 2 for Carrie saw her get underway at 10:15. However, as soon as Carrie got things underway, the rain started coming down, making those already challenging sections even tougher. Carrie again had an impressive middle section of the trial, scoring 3 clean sections and plenty more good scores. Carrie ended the day with a score of 132, taking her total to 237 and up to 44th.
Carrie had an early start on her final day on Sunday with a start time of 9:35. Carrie was struggling with fatigue physically and mentally after a busy week and schedule. Carrie battled hard all day, and despite her struggles, she scored the best on the previous 2 days. Carrie scored 95 points, as well as finishing her weekend with a clean section.
Overall, Carrie finished the weekend with a score of 332, meaning a 42nd place out of 53.
This is what Carrie had to say on her weekend:
“The weather was belting on Friday, so it was a gorgeous day riding round, although a bit exhausting from the heat. The sections were fun but challenging, and I got finished in plenty of time. For Saturday, the sections were great again, although a bit harder work at times, especially after the rain came down and turned certain areas into a grassy ice rink. Sunday was the toughest day without a doubt. I was definitely feeling the fatigue in my body and mind from the crazy week and a half I’d just had.
That was my second year at the Reeth 3 Day complete, and although hard work as always, I thoroughly enjoyed every single second.”
We’ll see Carrie very soon for her 3rd consecutive weekend of trials, as this time it is the 5th & 6th round of the Trial GB series over in Northern Ireland.
