Carrie was back out on her bike the other weekend, this time at the Scott Trial. This trial is known as one of the hardest one-day trials around and will provide a tough test for Carrie.

As Carrie got her trial underway the chaos started early as another rider caused her to get stuck before the first section. Carrie eventually got away and got her first few sections completed. As the trial progressed, Carrie had a few issues in a stream and struggled to get the bike going again. After getting away, a passing biker clipped the front end of Carrie’s bike, causing Carrie to go down a small bank and causing an injury to her hand. Knowing nothing was broken, Carrie was still in plenty of pain and struggling to even hold on to the bike.

The last action for Carrie was shortly after as the pain from her hand caused the bike to slip with her leg becoming trapped where she ended up burning her right leg due to the exhaust. Carrie then decided to call it a day from there, not wanting to risk any more injuries to herself.

This is what Carrie had to say on her trial:

“I got to the start area a bit before my start time and got myself as ready as possible. Straight away it got off to a chaotic start when another stuck rider before the first section caused me to get stuck, then the bike wouldn’t start for a good 10 minutes which in Scott time is vital minutes considering 3 riders set off every minute. I got on my way again and eventually got through the first few sections. I then got stuck in a stream for another period and struggled to get the bike going again from being in an awkward place, so I dragged it out and got going again. Then, unfortunately, when one of the latter riders came past me they clipped my front end, and I went flying down a small bank. I took a rock straight to my left palm and I knew that I was me pretty much done because I couldn’t hold on properly. Luckily, I could tell nothing was broken, it was just a soft tissue injury so I continued to potter on the best I could. Then I had an awkward slip at one point due to my hand and unfortunately got my leg trapped and burnt my right calf on my exhaust so I got to the first petrol stop and then got through another handful of sections and slowly rode along waiting for the back markers to appear so they could direct me back to the start so I could retire and not get any further injuries”.

Carrie finished off by saying:

“All in all, I’m quite disappointed that I didn’t get further but had to make the tough, but ultimately the best decision to look after myself. So, bring on Scott 2025, hopefully, I get further next time”.
