The final two rounds of the 2025 British Championships marked the end of a challenging but rewarding season for Carrie. Originally scheduled for early September, the event was postponed due to wildfires near Scarborough, which gave Carrie a bit more time to prepare to finish her season off as well as possible.
After a difficult year, Carrie was hoping to finish the season on a positive note, with a full season report still to come.
Riding without a minder for most of the weekend made things even more demanding, though Saturday's dry conditions allowed for solid progress. The 12-sector course had a mix of large rock steps and slippery banks to technical river sections, making it arguably the toughest course of the year, meaning Carrie had to be alert at all times. Carrie finished lap 1 with 56 points, which she also replicated in lap 2. This meant a total of 112 and a 6th-place finish, earning Carrie 10 points in the overall standings.
By Sunday morning, the rain had turned the sections into what could be described as a muddy ice rink. Carrie struggled with the conditions, scoring a 58 in the opening lap, but was determined to finish off on a more positive note. Getting lap 2 underway, Carrie did exactly what she set out to do, scoring her best section of the round so far with a near-perfect sector and scoring 52 for the lap. This meant Carrie finished with a score of 110 and another 6th-place finish, once again, scoring her 10 points in the championship standings.
This is what Carrie had to say on her final round:
"I was unfortunately riding minder less once again, until my final lap on Sunday. So once again, it was a hard weekend overall and was probably the most challenging collection of sections that we have faced this year in the Trial 2 Women's class. Saturday was very pleasant with the weather, but some rain overnight caused some chaos on Sunday by making some sections turn into a muddy ice rink. But it was fun as always, nonetheless, and I am grateful to Craig, who hopped in to help me through my final lap and help me finish the season with a smile on my face.
I managed to bring home to P6's over the weekend, and I'm happy with that as I gave it my all".
With a pair of 10-point rounds, it meant that Carrie finished the season on 53 points and comfortably in 7th place, but mightily close to a top 5 finish.
