As a trained Claims Handler, you will provide a comprehensive claims management service from notification through to settlement, to all our customers and clients.
Our Claims Team members have a varied role and are responsible for investigation, handling and settling claims under delegated authority.
Role Responsibilities
- Managing your own workload in accordance with agreed targets. To ensure work undertaken is conducted in a manner that meets the client, business and regulatory requirements
- Take calls and handle correspondence to resolve queries from clients and brokers relating to claims, processes and policy terms.
- Consider and where appropriate settle clams and fees covered by the underlying insurance policies
- Build relationships, trust and respect with clients and customers
- Take notification of all new claims, consider and identify any applicable cover that may be relevant
- Source and review evidence that may be relevant to the claim,
- Assess Prospects of Success and negotiate with third parties
- Manage and drive the clients claim forwards taking in to account both the client’s and the business’s needs, keeping all relevant stakeholders informed of any and all developments at all times
- Handle claims on behalf of underwriters in relation to all lines of Lexelle business from inception to settlement
- Develop a deep understanding of cover available under all policies and relevant claims processes for motor and non-motor insurance
- Maintain a good understanding of regulatory requirements and civil litigation
- Assist Management where necessary
- Manage diary/task lists for claims.
- Undertake any tasks which may be required to ensure the smooth running of the department
- Adhere to FSA and Data Protection regulations
- Work to targets on both quality/quantity of work
What We Need From You
- Work well with others
- Confident communicator at all levels
- Well organised, self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet targets / deadlines
- Ability to learn new processes quickly and develop a deep understanding of the work being undertaken
- A good/sound history/experience relating to general insurance is not essential but is advantageous
- Some claims/basic legal knowledge would be an advantage
- Minimum of 5 GCSE’s graded A-C or 5 upwards
- Good decision making and ability to justify decisions made.
