After a positive start to the season, Daniel was ready for round 3 of the British Talent Cup. After gaining his first championship point of the season last time out at Silverstone, Daniel was hoping to build off his good racing going into Snetterton.
Daniel was going into the track blind having never raced around the nearly 3-mile track at Snetterton. The first free practice session of the round got underway on Friday morning with Daniel trying to get to grips with the new track. He managed 13 laps with his best time coming on his penultimate lap with a time of 2:11.074, placing him 24th.
After a break, the second and last free practice session got underway with Daniel again completing 13 laps. He managed to shave off just over 2 seconds from the first session, coming in with a time of 2:08.900 and moving up a place to 23rd.
Qualifying was first up on Saturday. Daniel, just like in the first free practice session, completed 13 laps with his best time coming on his penultimate lap. He posted a time of 2:07.649, qualifying in 22nd.
After a lengthy break, race 1 got underway and a good start made by Daniel pushed him up well inside the top 20. A few laps in Daniel got pushed wide on a corner and shortly after part of his exhaust came off meaning a slight loss of power, however, that didn’t seem to bother Daniel as he crossed the line in 15th to earn himself another championship point.
Race 2 was a very similar story for Daniel as he made another good start and was able to make it to the front of the pack he was involved in. After going back and forth with the few riders he was involved with, Daniel crossed the line in 15th, and once again, in the scoring zone.
After round 3, Daniel remained 23rd in the championship standings but scored his best round of the season so far.
This is what Daniel had to say on round 3:
“Race one started well, but I was run wide by another rider which put me off and I lost the pack I was running with. Part of my exhaust then broke and although the bike was ok to keep going and finish, it did lose some power which made me slower. My final position was 15th and another point to add to my championship score.
Race 2 was very different, I got a great start, and this time was able to stay with the group in front. One by one I passed them and made it to the front of the pack. I came over the line in 15th place which I was really happy with, and another point too.
