After a battling performance last time out in North Yorkshire, Carrie was back for her third consecutive weekend of trials, this time in the 5th and 6th rounds of the Trial GB series over in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Carrie was excited going into the weekend, knowing the sections were challenging but enjoyable.
Carrie got underway in her first lap, getting off to a solid start, scoring 3s in a lot of the opening sections. However, in section 8, Carrie unfortunately had an unlucky fall, landing headfirst downhill and continuing to roll further down before her bike crashed into her too. Carrie went straight to the medics to get checked out before getting all clear to carry on with the trial. Knowing she wasn’t fully fit, Carrie took a 5 on sections 9, 10 and 1 before having a little reset before the final section. As soon as Carrie started the section, she knew she couldn’t go on anymore for the sake of her head and body.
Carrie then decided to rest up for the remainder of the day to see how she felt for Sunday’s trial. Unfortunately, Carrie still didn’t feel like herself and retired on the second day.
This is what Carrie had to say on her weekend:
“Devastated doesn’t even cut it. It takes a lot for me to throw in the towel, but I feel like your head is a different ball game due to my injured foot from the other week, for example. I shall be back fighting fit for the final 2 rounds of this championship at the end of August”.
We hope Carrie makes a full recovery as soon as possible, and we hope to see her in the final rounds at the end of August in Scarborough.
