Andy Stafford HalfA Lexelle director is getting on his running shoes to take part in the Stafford Half Marathon in March to raise money for charity.

Commercial Director Andy Acton, pictured left, will join around 3,000 other runners for the gruelling 13.1 mile race in a bid to raise £2,500 for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity on 22nd March.

Supporting hundreds of families who have seriously ill children, the Rainbow Trust is the registered charity of I Love Claims – a UK motor claims business forum.

The charity provides individually tailored, high quality service to families when their child has a life threatening or terminal illness.

“I met with the Trust’s fundraising team at a recent I love Claims event, a business forum which Lexelle is proud to part of,” said Andy.

“This is their registered charity, therefore I agreed to run on their behalf, not only for this reason but mainly to support the excellent work they do with very ill young children.

“They now support more than 1,300 families each year through their team of support workers and it is all funded by charity events.

“This equates to support for less than five per cent of families in England who find themselves in this very tragic position so any form of donation would be greatly appreciated.”

Andy Acton runningIt will be Andy’s third consecutive Stafford Half Marathon having raised £535 for the WWF Rhino protection programme in 2013.

Having clocked a time of one hour and 36 minutes two years ago, Andy ran an impressive one hour and 32 minutes in 2014 to raise £1,215 for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which supports the families of those who have lost their life in combat in Afghanistan.

With race day less than two months away, Andy is busy pounding the streets running up to 70km a week as he aims for another personal best.

“I managed a 10km PB of 38 minutes and 42 seconds just before Christmas so I’m hoping to get a time of less than 85 minutes for the half marathon,” added Andy.

“It may be a little too much to ask but I’ll have a good try at reaching this milestone.

“But the most important thing is to raise money for the Rainbow Trust, so any donation of any value would be greatly appreciated by not only me but the families who need that extra little bit of help.”
