Two Lexelle staff members are gearing up to race this year’s Sheffield Half Marathon in April.
Nick Brimacombe, who works in Lexelle’s marketing team, and Mark Chamberlain, who works in our IT department, are both busy pounding the streets ahead of the 13.1 mile race on 12th April.
It will be Nick’s fifth consecutive Sheffield Half Marathon and he is hoping to raise more than £500 for St Luke’s Hospice – a local charity which gives people with life-limiting illness the best possible quality of life.
With less than two weeks to go before the big race, Nick says the fundraising and gruelling training sessions are going well.
“St Luke’s Hospice is a charity which is close to my heart and I’m very proud to be running for them again this year,” he said.
“They do exceptional work in the Sheffield area and rely heavily on funding to keep their services going, I’ve managed to raise more than £1,600 in the last three years so it would be great to increase that further this year.
“The training is going well and I’m managing to clock up more miles during the week now that the evenings are getting lighter.”
Meanwhile Mark, who completed four long distance races in 2014 including the Great North run to raise more than £800 for Childline, is also raring to go.
“The Sheffield Half Marathon is always a great day and the new course route has given everyone added incentive this year,” said Mark.
“I’m really looking forward to the event; I’ve been building up the miles in the last few weeks so hoping to finish in a respectable time.”
Lexelle’s Commercial Director Andy Acton has raised £830 for a children’s charity after completing the Stafford Half Marathon with a personal best time on 22nd March.
Andy was fundraising for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity which supports hundreds of families each year who have seriously ill children.
The Rainbow Trust is also the registered charity of I Love Claims – a UK motor claims business forum which Lexelle is a part of.
It was a day of double celebrations for Andy as he finished in 111th position out of 3,000 entrants with an impressive time of one hour, 26 minutes and 25 seconds.
It was Andy’s third consecutive Stafford Half Marathon having raised £535 for the WWF Rhino protection programme in 2013.
In 2014, he raised £1,215 for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which supports the families of those who have lost their life in combat in Afghanistan.
