Over the weekend it was the final two rounds for Carrie in the Ladies British Championship with the first of the two being Carrie’s home round at Hooton Lodge, Scunthorpe.

Carrie got off to an okay start on the first lap and scored 31, putting her in 4th place. Laps 2 and 3 were much improved by Carrie, scoring 26 and 17 in tough conditions with rain beginning to fall in lap 2.

This is what Carrie had to say on her home round:

“I headed to Hooton nice and early on Saturday, got signed on, bike prepped and ready for my start time. Got off to an okay start on my first lap. Then a bit of rain hit which made a few of the sections a little bit interesting for lap 2. Kept pushing hard, had some really good rides and brought home another P4 on the penultimate round”.

On Sunday, Carrie headed down to Bracken Rocks, Mansfield for the final round of the season hoping to finish off strong.

Carrie got off to a fantastic start even with the horrible weather conditions, scoring only 10 points and putting her 1st. Carrie carried this performance on in the following 3 laps, completing them all scoring under 20 points each. This meant a final position of 2nd in the final trial of the season.

This is what Carrie had to say on the final round:

“I arrived down in Derbyshire and again got signed on and bike prepped ready for a solid final round. Start time came and away I went to the first section, and I knew from the start what kind of day we were all in for, but weirdly I had this feeling that it would suit me. It was the most ‘road/national style trial’ with the type of section that we had had all year in the BTC and as previously mentioned, I absolutely adore my national trials on the road. Turns out my feeling was correct; I had a great first lap with the lowest score of anyone on the route with a mere 10 points. My following 3 laps were also all sub-20 points, even after some heavy rainfall which I was super proud of”.

After a tough year in the Ladies British Championship with bike issues and competing with higher-level riders then before, Carrie finished the season in 4th place which is a great achievement.

Carrie had this to say looking back on her season:

“Overall in the championship, I’ve finished P4 this year, which I’m still extremely proud of again after all the dramas I’ve had and after the ACU removed the 50/50 Championship, which as mentioned at the start of the year, has meant we have been fighting against some higher level riders.

My focus now returns to Nationals and training for the rest of the year to come back even stronger next year for a shot at the title in Inters in the Ladies BTC”.

Carrie’s attention now turns to National trials, with her next one coming up in October in the Lakes 2-day trial.
