Carl was back on the track over the weekend, this time for round 2 of the Quattro Group British Supersport at Donington Park.

Carl got his round underway on Friday morning with the first free practice session of the weekend. Ahead of the weekend, Carl managed to find a good setting with the chassis of the bike and was comfortable with the change. Carl completed 12 laps in the session, setting his best lap time on lap 7 with a 1:34.901, coming in 33rd.

After a break, Carl was out on the track again for the second and last practice session of the weekend and ahead of qualifying on Saturday morning. Carl managed to complete 15 laps and beat his previous time by more than a second, posting a time of 1:33.825. Carl finished the session in 32nd but is improving his times.

On Saturday, Carl was part of the first batch of bikers racing to qualify. He managed 7 laps of the session with his best coming early on in lap 3, and once again, beating his previous time that he set. Carl came in with a time of 1:33.312, meaning a grid position of 33rd.

A 12-lap sprint race was first up for Carl on Saturday afternoon. After maintaining a good pace throughout, Carl struggled to advance much higher and break into the scoring zone. He did jump up 4 places near the end of the race and came across the line in 29th.

Carl started race 2 in 31st and managed to get off to a great start, getting all the way into 19th and pushing to score his first points of the season. However, disaster struck as Carl crashed out on lap 3. Luckily, he came away unhurt but was forced to retire from the race.

This is what Carl had to say on his weekend:

“I chipped away all weekend, and we found a good setting with the chassis which I was comfortable with, and we tried something new for race 2. I got a great start in the second race and got up to 19th position, unfortunately, I then crashed out in lap 3.

We take lots of positives away as a team, and we look forward to the next round in 4 weeks’ time.”

We’ll next see Carl in just over a month’s time for round 3 of the Quattro Group British Supersport, with Snetterton playing host.
