It was time for round 4 of the Kawasaki British Superteen Championship for Carl, this time at Snetterton and also a chance to jump to top spot in the championship standings.
Carl got underway in the free practice session but struggled to get into the flow of things along with learning a brand new track to him. Carl ended the practice session in P9, just under 3 seconds behind the leader.
Before qualifying, Carl managed to sit down with his team to figure things out and also make a few changes. The qualifying session got off to a much better start for Carl as he got faster lap by lap and eventually coming P3, this time just over a second off the leader.
The first race of the weekend got underway on Sunday and Carl got off to a great start managing to get to top spot early on. Carl managed to hold onto this for a lot of the race, but it came down to a 3 horse race with a final lap to go. With only a few corners left to go on the final lap, Carl went for the overtake but unfortunately made a mistake and crashed out of the race, almost taking out another racer. Fortunately for Carl, he walked away from the incident safe but disappointed in the finish.
Despite this setback Carl is still in a great position in the championship standings, placing 3rd overall and a good round away from possibly taking top spot.
We’ll next see Carl this weekend on the 12th – 14th July, back at Donington Park where we hope he can recreate his earlier season victory. Good luck Carl!
