For the 2025 season, we are delighted to announce the newest Lexelle sponsored rider, Daniel Stephenson, younger brother of Lexelle sponsored rider Rhys Stephenson. Lexelle are sponsoring Daniel in his debut season of the British Talent Cup, stepping up from minibike racing into Moto3 Racing. Daniel felt he was ready to take the step up and compete at a higher level and on a more powerful bike.
His first round of the year came at Donington Park, where he got his round underway on Saturday morning in the free practice session. Daniel managed to get in 13 laps with his best time coming on lap 10 with a 1:45.623, placing him in 25th.
After a short break from the practice session, qualifying got underway late Saturday morning with perfect conditions for racing. Daniel managed 14 laps in the session, with his best time coming on lap 6 and beating his previous time by almost a full second. He came in with a 1:44.695 and qualified in 25th.
Race 1 got underway on Saturday afternoon with Daniel hoping for a solid start to his season but knowing how tough it was going to be. He maintained good pace throughout but was unable to break into the scoring positions. Late on in the race he managed to jump up 3 positions into 22nd which is where he would finish.
After a short warm-up on Sunday morning, Daniel started race 2 in 21st. After again maintaining good pace throughout, Daniel managed to jump in 16th late on the race which is where he would finish and just missing out on championship points.
This is what Daniel had to say about his round of the season:
“I was both nervous and excited. Jumping straight from minibike racing to Moto3 Racing was a huge step, but one I think I was ready for.
I started my first race 25th on the grid and finished in 22nd, and in race two I finished in 16th place, just one place out of the points. I improved my times from the test weekend by 1.2 seconds, so overall I was super happy with my progress”.
We are thrilled to be sponsoring Daniel for the 2025 season and seeing him progress as he adapts to the step up. We’re looking forward to a great season of racing and supporting the young rider every step of the way. We’ll next see Daniel back on the track this weekend, this time at the world-famous Silverstone track in round 2 of the British Talent Cup.
