Over the weekend it was the final round of the World Superbike Championship in Spain at the Circuito de Jerez. With it being the final chance to earn some championship points to the total, Tarran was hopeful for a strong finish and to add to his tally.
Throughout all 3 free practice sessions, Tarran remained consistent, only coming in 3 seconds slower than the leader in each session.
For the qualifying session, Tarran posted a time of 1’40.488, which was his best time so far on the weekend. Again, Tarran came in just 3 seconds behind the leader of the session.
Race 1 got underway on Saturday afternoon, where Tarran maintained his position throughout. About halfway through the race, Tarran got clipped by a fellow rider, causing him to come off of his bike. He managed to remount his bike and finish off the race in 24th.
Race 2 was a short one for Tarran as only 3 laps in, the bike front folded going into turn 2 meaning Tarran’s race was quickly over.
This is what Tarran had to say on his weekend:
“The final round of the season in Jerez didn’t deliver anything special on the results front but as always I was 100% committed throughout the weekend. My regular crew chief Mick was unavoidably absent; however, I can’t fault how hard everyone worked once again over the three days. I was on the floor in race one after being tagged by another rider in a racing incident but managed to remount and finish the race to at least gather some data.
I then had a solid finish in the Superpole race which gave me confidence for a least a top twenty position in Sunday’s final race”.
Tarran then finished off by saying:
“After a decent start on race 2, I felt comfortable matching my temporary teammate Nagashima’s pace on the full factory bike, before the front folded unexpectedly at turn two. So it’s a huge thanks to these boys for never giving up and always trying their best. A very difficult season for many reasons but I’m happy with how I’m riding”.
