It was the penultimate round for Tarran in the WorldSSP, this time at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimão, Portugal.
In qualifying, Tarran worked hard to try and get his time down as much as possible and get a good position on the grid. Tarran finished the qualifying 25th place with a fastest time of 1’45.765.
Going into race 1, Tarran immediately made up several positions and got into 21st place after lap 1. A few more laps into the first race and Tarran managed to get up into 17th, keeping up a good pace. Tarran did end up losing a bit of ground late on and finishing the race in 22nd position.
The second and final race of the weekend got underway with Tarran gaining a place after the first lap. Tarran maintained good speed throughout the race and actual set his fastest lap time on the very last lap to finish in 20th.
This is what Tarran had to say on the weekend: “The penultimate round of the WSS Championship took place over the weekend in glorious weather at the Portimão Circuit in Portugal. It was an eventful weekend for me in Portimão so I have to be satisfied with a best result of 20th and constant performance improvements throughout the weekend.
Qualifying was looking real good until a small mistake saw me upside down in the closing stages of the session.”
Tarran then went on to say: “I was perfectly ok, once the right way around, but towards the back of the grid, so once again in a scenario where I can pass on the technical sections but get passed down the long Portimão straight. It was frustrating but as always my sector times were good, so I know my riding isn’t in question. I have a few weeks off now so will investigate how much metalwork can be removed from my ankles and leg before the last round in Jerez at the end of the month. I can then get any surgery done in the off season and be slightly lighter for 2024! Watch this space for my future World Championship plans that will be announced soon.”
With just 1 race left in the WorldSSP, Tarran sits 17th in the standing with 40 points. The final race of the calendar will take place in Jerez, over the weekend of 27-29 of October. Good luck Tarran!
