Last week, Tarran was over in Spain at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, preparing for round 2 of the 2024 Superbike World Championship.
Having not had much time on the new bike to date and no significant experience of the track, it was a good opportunity for Tarran to put the test sessions to good use and get prepared for the upcoming round.
Although it was the same bike as Tarran used in round 1 in Australia, he had a much better feeling for the bike in Barcelona. With a few changes made since Australia, including a new crew chief, Tarran saw good improvements throughout both days in his bikes performance and also producing a consistent set of lap times.
This is what Tarran had to say on the test sessions: “A change of crew chief has been a major step forward as I now have good friend and fellow Brit, Mick Shanley looking after me. Mick has a wealth of experience and plenty of success in in the world of Superbikes so I’m very grateful the team agreed to the restructure.
We’re definitely singing from the same hymn sheet and his good relationship with the Honda factory is crucial going forward. He is also more in sync with my Showa Suspension technician and data guy Rheinhard”.
Tarran then went on to say: “A fresh chassis setting, new brakes and a ton of laps over the recent two-day test at Barcelona saw me much closer to the opposition and now really comfortable on the bike.
It’s been a while but I’m finally enjoying riding again and looking forward to taking more positive steps over next weekend at the Catalunya WSB round”.
The 2nd round of the 2024 Superbike World Championship takes place this weekend at the Spanish track, from the 22nd of March to the 24th.
