After some positive signs in France the round before, Tarran was back out on the track over the weekend for round 9 of the World Superbike Championship, this time at the Cremona Circuit, Italy. After a successful two-day test in June at the Cremona Circuit, Tarran was raring to go and confident of finishing in the scoring places.
Ahead of the free practice sessions, Tarran and the Petronas MIE team tried a new setting on the bike that they thought would work much better for Tarran, but through practice, Tarran struggled to get comfortable with the new setup. Despite this, Tarran still managed to post some good times and came in about 2 seconds off of the leader.
Tarran made a positive start in race 1, keeping pace with the middle of the pack, battling it out for a top-10 finish. Unfortunately, on the final lap, Tarran crashed but managed to remount and finish off the race.
After reverting his bike set-up for race 2, Tarran felt a lot more comfortable and confident, but unfortunately, it was a similar story to race 1. Tarran made another good start, battling it out in a similar position to race 1, however, crashed on lap 9 and was unable to finish the race due to the damage caused on the bike.
This is what Tarran had to say on his weekend:
“I made a good start in both races but unfortunately crashed out twice. In race one I was able to remount and finish but in race two my bike was too badly damaged. Fortunately, I escaped uninjured with the data saying I didn’t do a lot wrong, it’s sometimes a fine line between going fast and being upside down”.
Tarran then went on to say:
“I don’t have long to make amends as I’m back out in Aragon this weekend. It’s incredibly tough at the moment but I have an amazing team behind me so hopefully I can pay them back with interest soon”.
As Tarran mentioned it is a quick turnaround for him as round 10 of the World Superbike Championship is this weekend at MotorLand Aragon, Spain. As we near the end of the season Tarran is hoping for a strong finish to what has been a tough season and hopeful of adding to his points.
