Tarran Mackenzie will compete in the World Superbike Championship in 2024 with the Petronas MIE Honda Race Team.
Having made the move to World Supersport with the PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda Team at the start of the 2023 season, Tarran immediately made an impression, coming fifth in his debut World Supersport appearance at the Philip Island season-opener. Tarran’s major highlight of the 2023 season was undoubtedly his stunning race win he achieved in Race 2 at Most, Czech Republic – check out the blog here.
Tarran also impressed in his first appearance at the Suzuka 8 Hours in August, supporting the team all the way to the podium, completing the challenging endurance race in third position – check out the blog here.
This is what Tarran has had to say on the step up: “It’s been a dream of mine for a long time to race in the World Superbikes full time so I’m buzzing now that everything is in place.
Midori Moriwaki once again has given me a fantastic opportunity to prove myself against the World’s best Superbike riders and for that I will be eternally grateful. I’ve already completed a successful shakedown test on the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and while there is work to be done, I’m feeling comfortable and can’t wait to ride again in Spain later this month. This is my biggest challenge yet in racing but with my all-new crew we’re more ready to get stuck in!”
With the season staring after the new year, Tarran has a little waiting to do until the first race of the season, which is due to take place at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on the 23rd to the 25th of February over in Australia.
A huge well done to Tarran for a successful 2023 season and earning the step-up to the World Superbike Championship for the 2024 season.
